The growth of mobile phone market in India is on an upsurge as many Chinese as well as domestic handset makers have entered handset segment in the country. The latest to join the bandwagon is consumer durables maker Usha Shriram, which is intending to rollout six models of features phones and four models of smartphones by February-end to foray into India’s mobile phone markets. But as far as we remember, Usha had tested waters in the mobile phone industry earlier as well–by introducing usha Lexus devices.
And now, it is launching its GSM and CDMA phones with a price tag in between Rs 700-Rs 10,000, Usha Shriram would mostly cater to tier II and III mobile markets in the country.
As revealed by a PTI report, Satnam Sandhu, senior vice-president, Usha Shriram, said that the Delhi-based company aims to sell about two lakh phones every month in 2016. The company, which is reach out to some vendors for manufacturing its handsets, revealed that initially the company would start from north and east region.
The company, which currently sells products related to water purification, lighting and cookware segments, would use its brand name while promoting the new handsets.
