In order to curb increasing economic offences, cases of crime against women as well as petty thefts, Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi announced that it will be introducing three mobile applications in a month’s time to wherein people can easily report such cases.

“While the first mobile app will be connected with Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police, the second will be linked to Special Unit for Women and Children (SPUW&C) and the third will be treated as a virtual police station (sic),” Bassi revealed after the Police Commemoration Day Parade.

It must be noted that Delhi Police has already launched several mobile apps like the Delhi Traffic Police app, HIMMAT SOS app, online services for passport clearance as well as reporting motor vehicle thefts.

Lauding the concept of e-filing reports, Bassi said Delhi Police has visualized the processes of Passport Clearance Certificate (PCC) and filing untraced reports to ensure zero-corruption in the system.

On being asked about the security issues that the women are facing in the national capital, Bassi revealed that Delhi is in a better position than several cities in France where women, who suffer criminal offences, do not even approach the police.
